Still a student at the Conservatoire, Nelly Alard met independent filmmaker Henry Jaglom in Paris, back from the Cannes Film Festival with Orson Welles, and discovered his films, most of which had never been seen in France. A few years later, she decided to shoot a documentary about him. Produced with very limited means, in video and in English, On the tracks of a filmmaker is a portrait of the filmmaker, but also tells the misadventures of a young Frenchwoman who came to shoot her first film in Hollywood. We meet Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper, Karen Black, Peter Bogdanovitch, Bob Rafelson and also Orson Welles, in images recorded on the set of his last film as an actor.
