It may be small and big enough to sense MMOish and simple enough to fit into an older gamer that wishes the rest of the world was in the now rather than Ultima Online circa 1997's schedule. In one interview the devs stated 14 players a open world example, in another 8, the truth is that their cases can handle quite a great deal of people but it gets cluttered when there are too many of them so the amount of players per case is limited to below what is possible from a technical aspect. The servers are hosted on google cloud.
As for number of character classes. Based on discord discussions there are likely to be pushed into the alpha shortly. There are systems coming one of those being rumored to be a skill-tree system for those pets but most of them are kept under lid.
I don't care if a person believes this game an MMORPG or maybe not - because my criteria of an MMO is dependent on how many people that you meet while exploring the planet rather than based on amount of individuals within an instance I kind of do. Still it play with anybody or does not need you to group and in that aspect it's closer to a pure aRPG than to an MMO.
Personally they could remove all MMO parts and I think that it would be a much better match. ARPG and I perform with buy PSO2 Meseta as player. I do not want them running around at the same areas as me, although I don't mind seeing people in the fort components or towns. If they had made a co-op for the ones that want to play with others think than what we have 26, that it would have worked better. I do enjoy the game however.
