The long-running football simulation game by EA continues to sell well, despite overt criticism from what seems like a majority of its players. The franchise's latest iteration, Madden NFL 21, was met with a flurry of complaints from players, and earned the game a shockingly low Metacritic score. It was widely criticized for its poor physics and bugs, along with a lack of polish at launch, resulting in being named among the top games in 2020. The game's fans even began using the hashtag NFLDropEA on Twitter.

The news of the Madden NFL franchise returning to Nintendo originates from Youtuber Doctre81, who found the job posting for an "Online Software Engineer - (C++)" Madden," which dates back to November 2020. If you look further there is a section required for the job requires two years of work experience on "Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo gaming consoles." While it may not sound like much, similar job listings from EA don't mention Nintendo in their requirements. The last time the series had a presence on any Nintendo platform was Madden NFL 13 on the Wii U. EA was adamant that they wouldn't bring the series to Switch in 2018. But the industry giant is reportedly changing its mind with the hybrid system.

Should the theory that underlies the job posting be true, it could signal an ongoing shift in the relationship between large N and Electronic Arts, with several of its franchises accessible on the portable console. Apex Legends, a free-to-play battle royale game, has been transferred to Switch by Electronic Arts. Unfortunately, the console's lack of processing power as compared to its Xbox, PlayStation, and PC counterparts has caused many fans to speak out against the Apex Switch port. The poor quality of graphics, the texture and lower frame rates have discouraged many gamers from playing the high-speed FPS on the platform.

Nintendo offers a solution, and this could be the reason Madden returns. While it's yet to be confirmed by Nintendo There are rumors of Switch Pro hardware that could enable more graphically intensive games to be brought to the platform. The Switch Pro is expected to offer 4K graphics capabilities and NVIDIA DLSS technology. This could assist in handling more demanding games.

While it will be a while before the new Switch model comes out, Madden NFL is definitely returning to the Nintendo platform. It might take some time due to the fact that Madden games launched in August and the new Switch will not be released until the holiday season. Gamers can check out Snoop's Madden NFL streaming on the internet and it's something that fans of the game are familiar with.
